Press release issued by Jean-Luc Granet
Jean-Luc Granet, candidate of the Occitan Nation Party at the cantonal elections of March 20th 2011 in the canton of Prayssas (Lot-et-Garonne) and his deputy Emilie Granet, thank the 85 voters who gave them their vote this Sunday. In agreement with the board of the Occitan Nation Party, he does not call on the voters to cast their ballot for any of the two candidates still in contention for the second round on March 27th, Alain Merly (Union for a Popular Majority, right-wing) or Sylvie Costa (Socialist Party). He urges them to choose the person they’re going to vote for, taking into account his or her stance, or the absence of it, for the concrete assertion of Occitan identity (bilingual signposting, visibility of the Occitan language everywhere) and an economic development based on aid to short commercial channels in agriculture, agritourism and the opening up of the department through the improvement of the road and rail networks (traditional railway lines and high-speed Bordeaux-Nice railway line via Toulouse, Montpellier and Marseille He will see to it, along with the Occitan Nation Party, that if promises in that direction are made by the elected candidate, they come to fruition. Were it not the case, he would not hesitate to denounce him or her publicly for not honoring the pledges made.
